Real Madrid the manager Carlo Ancelotti is no longer amused by questions about himself Arda GulerFrustration can have a negative impact on him. The Italian veteran refused to change his decision or his approach for the 18-year-old starlet, despite his obvious desperation to get on the field, and the hype surrounding him.
Again on Sunday night against Sevilla, Guler looked eager to come on but was denied the chance, before a corner and then Luka Modric's goal saw his entry postponed. After Modric's excellent strike, Ancelotti decided to go with a more control-oriented substitution, with Dani Ceballos coming on rather than Guler.
Ancelotti was asked after the match, and he saw nothing to explain to Guler.
“I had a thought before Modric's goal and after the goal I changed my mind. It's not that complicated and I don't have to explain it. And if you don't understand, it doesn't matter.”
Guler has reacted badly to being left on the bench in the past, unable to contain his frustration, and after missing six months of action due to injury, Guler has only played 92 minutes all season. Most of those came in a Copa del Rey tie against Arandina, and Guler will also have to learn to earn his minutes.
Arda Güler had been prepared to enter for a few minutes.
I thought he was going to come after a throw, but he couldn't and opened his arms. Then there was a corner and Ancelotti saved. And then… the goal.
Not that I had much luck.
