Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is expected to miss the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday after injuring his knee during training.
The France international sustained the issue during a small-sided session at the National Stadium in Warsaw, where Real Madrid play Europa League winners Atalanta.
Video footage widely circulated on social media appeared to show the 21-year-old slip and land awkwardly in the act of trying to dribble past France team-mate, Aurelien Tchouameni.
The footage showed the former Rennes midfielder screaming in pain and being consoled by his Madrid team-mates as he clutched his left knee.
He received treatment on the pitch from medical staff before walking off the field without assistance. A cruciate ligament injury was ruled out following examination in the dressing room.
Camavinga will now undergo tests on Wednesday morning to determine the extent of the injury, with the club fearing he may have suffered internal ligament damage.
Real Madrid beat off competition from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain to sign Camavinga in 2021.
Since then, he has won two Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles and one FIFA Club World Cup in 145 appearances for the Spanish giants.
He played 31 games in 2023-24 as Real Madrid were crowned La Liga champions for a record-extending 36th time.
