Real Madrid have been plagued by injuries in defense this season, but positive updates have been brought in that could change the picture a bit. Both Lucas Vazquez and David Alaba could be back earlier than they were initially expected.
According to MarcoVazquez's hamstring problem is not as serious as first thought. The Blancos were left without a specialist right-back after he was ruled out for a month, but now he aims to return in their game against Liverpool on November 27, in two weeks' time.

As the talk around the January transfer window grows louder, and more demands for a central defender or a right-back grow, a key to their planning for the next transfer market is the fitness of David Alaba. The Austrian is back from a knee problem that cost him two operations and so far 11 months out. Alaba was feeling down about his consistent problems, but it seems that his recovery is finally picking up the pace.
For some time, no recovery date has been given, but now the same source says that he is over, and finally working without pain in the knee. Alaba has increased the intensity of his training sessions in recent days, and it is expected that he could be given the green light to return to full training in the month of December.
When he returns to the field of course is another matter, after what will probably be a year. If the 32-year-old returns to his old age at the start of 2025, then Real Madrid may decide to avoid going for another central defender in January, but it is impossible to know if that will be the case. Los Blancos naturally want to be particularly careful with Alaba as well, given the severity of his injury, his age and the recent injury to Eder Militao.
