Real Madrid is close to closing an agreement for Andriy Lunin to stay at the club long-term, according to the latest reports in the Spanish capital. It was recently publicly revealed that Jorge Mendes had become Lunin's agent during the talks, but now it is said that his agency Polaris Sports had been managing his affairs for several months.
The Ukrainian goalkeeper contracted the services of Mendes in December, which was seen as a move that would eventually take Lunin away from Los Blancos. However, having won the first place over Kepa Arrizabalaga in the absence of Thibaut Courtois, and the confidence of the club, it will be renewed on a long-term agreement, with the negotiation “very close” to being agreed, as per AS Diary.
It was a short time agoexplained to Football España that the change of agents to Mendes by his father would not be an obstacle to his renewal. Although there is little doubt that Courtois will return to the line-up next season as the number one, Real Madrid are undoubtedly covering his back with a quality alternative if the fitness problems of the Belgian continues, or his performance regresses upon his return.
