Real Sociedad loan star welcomes return for 2024-25 season despite lack of game time

After missing out on a permanent deal for Alexander Sorloth last summer, a decision he surely regrets now given his form with Villarreal, Real Sociedade have moved to secure a loan deal with RB Leipzig for another of their strikers: Andre Silva.

However, the Portuguese had a tough time in Donostia-San Sebastian. In 23 games in all competitions, he scored just three goals. Two of those came in La Liga, in the space of a week in March (vs Sevilla and Granada). Imanol Alguacil does not seem convinced by the Portuguese, having often used Mikel Oyarzabal, Sheraldo Becker and Umar Sadiq in front of him.

Despite his disappointing performance, Silva conceded AS Diary that he enjoyed his time at La Real.

“I feel very good in the city, with my teammates, with the team, with the fans, with the culture… but the most important thing is to play.”

Despite his lack of playing time with La Real, Silva also revealed that he will get the chance to stay for at least one more season.

“I feel really good and I would like to stay here, but what I like the most is to play and be important for the team. I am still convinced that it will be the case, I know it is possible. The most important thing for a player is to feel valued and received with what you try to offer.

“I'm on loan here at Real society, and they have an option to buy me. If they don't do it, I'll go back to Leipzig.”
