Referee Jarred Gillett used a camera during the clash at Selhurst Park to give fans an insight into his point of view during the action.

The IFAB (International Football Association Board), the Premier League, PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) and both clubs gave permission for the use of the camera.

Footage covers tunnel exits, pre-match handshakes and the coin toss between captains Joachim Andersen and Casemiro.

However, possibly the most interesting part of the footage showed a Palace penalty claim during the first half.

Tyrick Mitchell receives the ball from Eberechi Eze, passes to Kobbie Mainoo before being fouled in the box by Jonny Evans.

Gillett, who had a great view of the incident, quickly dismissed the cries of Palace fans and players, saying: “No, no, no way, no.”

“She ran into him because of me,” he added. “The attacker ran into Evans for me. That's how I read it.”

The match VAR then confirmed that a check was being carried out for a possible penalty, but nothing was given and play resumed.

Gillett's camera is being used as part of a unique program being produced by Premier League Productions later this year.

It aims to help educate fans about the demands of refereeing in the Premier League and aim to improve respect for referees, as well as encouraging more people to become referees.
