Aston Villa celebrated their first opening-day triumph since 2020 as they saw off West Ham United 2-1 in the capital.
Jhon Durán’s 79th-minute winner secured the spoils at London Stadium on Saturday after Lucas Paqueta’s penalty had cancelled out an early header from debutant Amadou Onana.
The victory was also our maiden success at London Stadium having been winless in nine previous Premier League trips to face the Hammers, last triumphing at Upton Park in April 2011.
