Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi has been targeted by a number of top clubs in recent years, and so far none have been attractive enough to tempt him away from Donostia-San Sebastian. Liverpool will be last by the looks of things.
On Wednesday, several outlets reported that Liverpool would open conversations with Real Sociedad and Zubimendi about a movement. The Reds have to activate his €60m release clause to have any hope of signing him, with three years left on his contract.
Ace for HITC, convince Zubimendi in a move that does not seem easier. They say that last week, Zubimendi communicated to intermediaries that he was not interested in a move to the Premier League, amid interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.
This is in line with further reports this week that United have once again picked up the phone at Barcelona talking about Frenkie de Jong. It certainly seems that there are few positions in the game as coveted as a midfielder currently in possession – as shown in the final of Euro 2024, Spain is lucky to have two of the best in the business .
