At right back would be Ben White, who has become one of the best full-backs in the league since making the transition from his natural position of centre-back.

But there could be a change in Arsenal's formidable back line, and talkSPORT understands that the versatile Bologna star Calafiori is a target.

Emmanuel Petit reveals Napoli's Victor Osimhen is the only player he wants Arsenal to sign this summer

The 22-year-old helped Bologna to a fifth-place finish in Serie A, his reputation growing following his dazzling performances for Italy at the European Championship.

His ability to play as a centre-back and as an inverted left-back is attractive. Artetaalthough that would leave him with a headache about where to appear.

And with William Saliba and Gabriel Magaelhaes forming one of the best centre-back duos in the top flight, Arteta may be reluctant to break them up.

This would see Calafiori slot in on the left side of defence, leaving Jurrien Timber, who spent most of last season out with a knee injury, on the bench.

He would then join Jakub Kiwior, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney as backup options.

It's no secret that Arsenal are interested in signing a defensive midfielder, and Bayern Munich's Kimmich is tipped as a possible option.

The German maestro has just one year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena and Vincent Kompany's team are willing to take advantage of him to avoid losing him for free.

And the 29-year-old is thought to welcome a move to Arsenal if he decides to embark on a new adventure away from the Bundesliga.

He would then start ahead of Thomas Partey and Jorginho, allowing Declan Rice to continue to thrive in his new box-to-box role.

Captain Martin Odegaard would complete the midfield and the Norwegian is recognised as one of the best playmakers in Europe.

Hale End graduate Bukayo Saka is set to retain his place on the right wing after hitting record numbers last season, scoring 20 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions.

But there could be a big change on the opposite flank, which would see Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard drop to the bench.

talkSPORT reported last month how Arsenal were keeping track on Athletic Bilbao star Williams, who has shone for Spain at Euro 2024.

With a £47m release clause, the speedy 21-year-old could be at the centre of a transfer dispute between several clubs across Europe.

And if Arteta were to overlook bringing in a new centre-forward, Havertz would likely retain his starting place up front ahead of Gabriel Jesus.
