Rio Ferdinand tells Laura Woods how legend Kobbie Mainoo plays as Man United teammates praise him

Rio Ferdinand thinks Kobbie Mainoo could be the next Clarence Seedorf.

He manchester united teenager made headlines with your winner in injury time against Wolves in a dramatic 4-3 victory.

Mainoo, 18, fired a shot at defender Max Kilman before sending the ball into the bottom corner with a composed finish.

The goal was his second in five days following his goal against Newport County in the FA Cup and contributed to his impressive promotion to the first team.

And Ferdinand was one of the many impressed fans who watched.

speaking to Laura Woods On TNT Sports, he spoke about the academy's outlook and said the future is bright. “I'm not saying he has the same ability and is still that player, but there are signs, he gives me Seedorf vibes.”

Next, the former United defender explained what caused the image of Seedorf, the former midfielder who won the Champions League with Ajax, Milan and real Madrid.

“The way he can maneuver in tough situations and the way he manipulates this ball, uses his body at times but then switches it up and just throws it between his legs, is beautiful.

“Sometimes it is also illusory, and it is control and awareness to be able to choose your place there.

“Some players see the headlights and the back pages and think, ‘Well, I'll give it a try.’ They just stroked it.”

Seedorf is considered one of the greatest midfielders of all time and the former Netherlands international possessed great skill on the ball and the ability to retain possession under pressure.

It wasn't just Ferdinand who liked what he saw, as his teammates responded to a Mainoo Instagram post that was captioned: “The beautiful game.”

Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund were among those who congratulated the youngster in the comments section.

The first responded with a simple fire emoji and the second used four applause emojis to express his gratitude for the goal.

Rashford and Hojlund scored in the first half against Wolves before Pablo Sarabia pulled one back with a penalty, only for Scott McTominay to restore United's two-goal lead.

Goals from Kilman and Neto made the home side believe they had mounted a spirited comeback, but Mainoo ensured United prevailed.
