Barcelona may have suffered their first defeat of the season on Thursday night, but they are still likely ahead of last season. One of the reasons is the better atmosphere in the club.

In particular, Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, arguably the two biggest sources of creativity and goals, did not see eye to eye last year. Lewandowski criticized the 17-year-old for not providing often enough from wide positions, and at points ignored the teenager on the pitch. Something that didn't go down well.

Lewandowski, apart from the feeling that he was missed too often, felt that education was not always necessary in the cut and thrust of the game, while Lamine Yamal felt that it was not the best behavior from a supposed head, as per Sport. The latter is not violent in decline, having earned his stripes playing on the road, despite Lewandowski's career.

When Hansi Flick arrived, however, he stressed the importance of pulling in the same direction, and with Lewandowski, he asked for his help to guide the young players, and also promised more service in front of the goal. Relations improved when Lewandowski sent Yamal plates a message congratulating them on winning Euro 2024, and since the pre-season, the couple has been much better, and they are more relaxed.

The pair are unlikely to hang out outside of work, but now they're having fun here, hence the image of the pair laughing together on the bench against Girona. They have a new mutual respect for each other.

In part, Lewandowski you will be aware that the status of Lamine Yamal has changed. While he was still a great hope, he is now widely regarded as the present and future at Barcelona. The Spanish international was also key in La Roja's Euro victory. Picking a fight with him is likely to be the one to lose.
