- Aston Villa Women Vs. Crystal Palace Women – Wed, Oct 2nd 2024, 19:15
Katie Robinson was delighted to net her first goal as a Villan on Wednesday evening in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The summer signing sealed Villa’s first League Cup group stage win with a dinking finish in stoppage time.
Speaking after the game, Robinson said: “It was a great feeling to score.
“I had a few chances in the first-half so it was nice to get that first goal in the end.”
Robinson and the team could’ve had plenty more goals and assists in the fixture, but the side were unable to finish their chances in front of goal. Despite this, the forward knew her side would eventually get their goals and the victory.
“I knew it was coming, it was just a matter of them going in,” Robinson shared.
“We had loads of chances in the first-half and we’ve got to be better at putting them away but we got the win in the end and that’s what mattered.
“So, I’m proud of the girls for getting it over the line.”
The Villans currently sit top of Group E with games against Charlton Athletic and Tottenham Hotspur to come and Robinson states that this is a competition that the team want to go far in.
She said: “It’s a great start as we value every single cup competition and the league.
“We want to go far in this competition, so this is the best start we wanted.”
It’s a quick turnaround for Robert de Pauw’s team as they are back in action on Saturday afternoon away to Brighton & Hove Albion to make it three games in a week.
“It’s a hectic week but we all love to play games,” Robinson said.
“So, we will recover now and really focus on Brighton because it’s a massive game and we know that we need to get the three points.”
