Saido Berahino swapped Europe for Asia to join Indian second-division side Rajasthan United.

Berahino shared a mock image of himself in Rajasthan colours and the I-League championship on his Instagram Story.

The Burundian international, who has 18 caps, titled his post simply saying: “One goal.”

Rajasthan chairman Krishan Kumar Tak has expressed his delight at bringing the centre-forward to the club.

He said: “We are excited to welcome Saido Berahino to Rajasthan United FC.

“His experience in top-flight football, including over 100 Premier League appearances, brings a new level of quality and professionalism to our squad.

He had just finished a season in which he scored 20 goals in all competitions for West Brom, with 14 in the Premier League.

Commenting on the failed transfer in a Q&A on X, Berahino said: “Right, Spurs' payments were unacceptable and West Brom wanted £30m.

“But Levy would pay £1.5m and the rest in instalments.”

Asked how close he was to pulling on a Spurs shirt, he said: “90 per cent.”
