Schalke’s first-choice keeper Marius Müller looking to leave the club

Sky Germany reports that Schalke’s first-choice goalkeeper Marius Müller has reached a verbal agreement with Wolfsburg as he looks to leave the Veltins Arena.

Müller has reached a verbal agreement with the Bundesliga side over a contract until 2027 and the 30-year-old will challenge incoming keeper Kamil Grabara for the number one spot. The Polish keeper will join Wolfsburg in the summer from Copenhagen.

Wolfsburg and Schalke are now in negotiations over the transfer fee for Müller. The fee is said to likely be around €1-2m.

Müller played 22 times for Schalke after joining them last summer from Swiss side Luzern however was not undisputed number one as Ralf Fährmann played several times for Die Königsblau in a poor season that saw them finish 10th in the 2.Bundesliga.

Schalke are now looking for a replacement with Eintracht Braunschweig keeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann as one of the candidates. The former Bayern Munich youth keeper is open to a move to the Veltins Arena and can join the club on a free transfer. However, no final decision has been made yet on the goalkeeping matter as Schalke looks at alternatives.
