Captain of Barcelona Sergi Roberto looks set to leave the club this summer after joining as a 14-year-old 18 years ago. Out of contract, Barcelona agreed to the terms of a new deal with him, but asked him to wait and see if there was room in his salary cap to sign him.
Roberto is tired of waiting, as per Matteo Moretto. He explained to Daily Briefing by Fabrizio Romano that Roberto really waited, but now well into July, he decided to consider other options, as Barcelona did not even contact him to update the situation.
Of the potential destinations in his mind, Roberto is waiting for offers from the Premier League and from outside Europe, but he has nothing advanced with any club. Sevilla offered him a deal, but he decided to wait and see what comes up elsewhere first.
Roberto's position is quite understandable. While he has always prioritized Barcelona, his delay will have an impact on his options in the coming weeks, with no certainty that there will be an offer he likes in the end.
