veteran of Seville Sergio Ramos starts to sound the transfer market to see what options are available for him this summer. The 38-year-old has signed a one-year deal Seville last summer, returning to the club he came from, but is uncertain about his future beyond the end of the season.
Ace for Relief, his current deal is worth around €2 million per season, significantly less than he was offered elsewhere last summer. Ramos did not receive a renewal approach, and began to sound his options for the summer. He does not want to spend the whole summer with uncertainty over his family as happened last year.
However, he will wait to see what Sevilla decide on his future before accepting another offer. It could be a while before it is imminent. Sevilla will wait until they are mathematically assured of their place in La Liga next season – currently six points adrift with eight games to go – before making decisions on the squad.
There will also be some difficult decisions, with Los Nervionenses having to lower his salary by 60 million euros this summer to balance their accounts.
It looks set to be another tough summer for Sevilla, after three consecutive years of turmoil. Quique Sanchez Flores is expected to leave the club this summer as well, meaning he will be a sixth coach in the space of two years. Ramos has been impressive for Sevilla this season though, and has 7 goals in his 29 appearances.
