With 28 Bundesliga goals this season, only Harry Kane (36) scored more than Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy this season. But the Guinean, who helped VfB qualify for Champions League football for the first time since 2010, is yet to commit his future to the Swabian club.
According to Kicker, Guirassy is yet to make a clear commitment to those in charge at Stuttgart, with Borussia Dortmund showing an interest in the 28-year-old forward.
Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth and head coach Sebastian Hoeneß will no doubt want to keep Guirassy – who has a contract until 2026 – beyond the summer, but that will certainly prove difficult. Averaging a goal every 79 minutes in the Bundesliga – matching Kane, who played more minutes – Guirassy can leave for a fee lower than €20m, his reported exit clause.
That will ultimately mean that it would be difficult for Stuttgart to keep hold of Guirassy, who has interest from some of Europe’s top clubs. Per Kicker, Milan and several English clubs have shown interest in the past.
Borussia Dortmund’s Sven Mislintat worked with Serhou Guirassy
A Champions League finalist, Borussia Dortmund are already planning for next season. Sven Mislintat has re-joined the club as technical director, and is already working on the squad for the 2024/25 campaign. Mislintat, who was involved in bringing Guirassy to Stuttgart on loan, maintains contact with the player and his representatives, according to Kicker.
