Jhon Durán

Jhon Durán again found the net to help Colombia to a 4-0 victory over Chile in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday night.

The in-form Aston Villa striker stepped off the bench at half-time in Barranquilla and duly converted from 12 yards with eight minutes remaining – continuing his remarkable start to the season.

The three points leave Colombia in second place behind leaders Argentina in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying standings for the 2026 tournament.

Morgan Rogers and Samuel Iling Jr helped England’s Under-21s to an emphatic 7-0 victory over Azerbaijan and top spot in qualifying Group F for next summer’s European Under-21 Championship.

Rogers enjoyed 61 minutes while Iling Jr, on loan at Bologna, completed the encounter at Ashton Gate and claimed an assist as the Young Lions wrapped up their qualification campaign in style.

England, who leapfrogged Ukraine to top their group, had already qualified for Euro 2025 in Slovakia as they were guaranteed to finish as at least one of the three best second-placed finishers.

Kosta Nedeljković completed 64 minutes for Serbia as they were beaten 3-0 by Spain in Cordoba.

Villa team-mate Pau Torres was an unused substitute for the Euro 2024 winners in their UEFA Nations League encounter.

The result ensures Spain move on to 10 points at the summit of League A Group 4, six points clear of third-placed Serbia.

Joe Gauci

Earlier on Tuesday, goalkeeper Joe Gauci completed 90 minutes as Australia drew 1-1 against Japan in Saitama.

The precious point leaves the Socceroos in second place in Group C, as they bid to progress from the third round of qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
