Ace for Relief, the much rumored talks between the two have come to an end, and Garcia Pimienta will sign an agreement for the coming season, with an extension clause for another year if Sevilla meets certain objectives, although it is not specified. He replaces the outgoing Quique Sanchez Flores, who was the club's fifth manager in two seasons, and has righted the ship with relegation-threatened Sevilla.

Part of Garcia Pimienta's appeal is thought to be his ability to work with little in the way of resources. He will also bring three of his staff from Las Palmas with him. Los Nervionenses had been in talks with Jagoba Arrasate and Enzo Maresca at various points, but with neither of those options working out, the Catalan coach will take over the ailing giants.

Since leaving Barca Atletic three years ago, after almost three decades of coaching at La Masia, Garcia Pimienta has taken over Las Palmas from Segunda in his first full season at the club. After a brilliant first half of the season, their disastrous eight-game losing streak threatened to sink Las Palmas back into the relegation battle, but ultimately kept them up.
