The winter transfer window opens in 10 weeks, and clubs are already looking into their efforts to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season. Sevilla is still looking for midfield reinforcements, and after the serious Achilles injury suffered by William Carvalho, so is Real Betis.

The scouting pool of the two clubs seems to be somewhat similar, since they settled on the same target: Santiago Simon. According to reports from Argentina (via ED), Sevilla and Betis are in the race to sign the 22-year-old pivot.

Simon has excelled for River Plate over the last 12 months, and as well as playing as a defensive midfielder, he can also be used as a right-back – making him even more attractive to Betis, who were looking to strengthen him that one position during the summer.

No club will have much financial space, so it won't be easy Seville o Betis to sign it in January. However, the option is there.
