Sheffield United on course to break unwanted Premier League records held by infamous Derby County team
Sheffield United have conceded the most goals in the Premier League after 25 games.
The blades were defeated 5-0 by Brighton at Bramall Lane this afternoon, a result that has seen them set an unwanted record.
No team has conceded as many goals as Chris Wilder's team at this stage of a campaign in the modern era and in the history of the top flight there has not been a worse start since 1964.
The defeat was United's third consecutive home game in all competitions in which they have conceded five goals and two of those defeats came against Brighton.
This leaves the underdog Blades with a goal difference of -43 and they look set to break the current long-standing record.

If they maintain this rate of goal concessions, they can reach a total of 98 goals conceded, firmly establishing an unwanted record.
Wilder's men could even break the 42-match season record of 100 goals conceded set by swindon town in 1993/94.
To make matters worse for United, the tough defeat against Brighton included an own goal by Jack Robinson when he slotted into his own goal from close range.
The Blades have scored the most own goals (4) in the Premier League this season and it is also a club record.
Robinson scored his own goal to make it 3-0 at the time, but a double from Simon Adingra made it 5-0 at the end of the game.
And that took Sheffield United's total home goals conceded this campaign to 36, the third-worst tally in the history of the English top flight after just 13 games.
Only Darwen in 1891-92 (43) and Aston Villa in 1935-36 (41) they have sent more.
Their terrible defensive record, combined with the fact that they also scored the fewest goals in the Premier League, makes them look destined for relegation.
