Simon Jordan says he will not go back on his view that Arsenal are a “bottleneck” unless they win the Premier League title this year.

The Gunners attracted the unwanted tag from hosts White And Jordan after allowing a substantial points lead to slip away in the closing stages of last season.

Mikel ArtetaThe team were top of the table and eight points ahead of Manchester City on April 1 last year, but drew with Liverpool, Southampton, West Ham and a defeat to Man City saw pep guardiolaThe team advances and secures the title.

That collapse led Jordan to label Arsenal “bottlers”, a label he doubled down during a Tense exchange with former gunner Martin Keown last week.

As a result, the former Crystal Palace president was asked his opinion on Arsenal following their 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Sunday, a result that has taken them two points off the top of the table.

However, Jordan wasn't going to change his mind that easily.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan said: “They bottled it up last year. I don't think it's unfair to suggest they bottled it last year; I'm not going back.

“It's just a simple fact: Whether it diminishes them or not, it's up to them to change that perspective.”

Asked if they can be classed as bottlenecks this season, Jordan said: “They are not going to win the FA Cup this season.

“They did it, they bottled it (last season), there's no doubt about it.

“Manchester City beat them in two games, but that wasn't the reason why Arsenal didn't win the league; “They didn't win it because they were on a run of form against teams they should have been able to play, just like what they did at Christmas.”

Responding to a claim that Arsenal will also bottleneck this season, Jordan said: “That's what they've been. I've yet to see them do anything else. “When they win the league it will necessarily be a different discussion.

“They were 11 or 12 points clear at the top of the league and they blew it because of their performances.

“They lost to Manchester City in two games, but where did the other five points go? The other five points went to Southampton, West Ham and those who lost in that run.

“Over Christmas, they turned two games in a row into losses, so they have a long way to go.

“The business they are in is spending £250m to improve on last season. If they don't improve compared to last season, what are we talking about? An improvement from last season is winning the league!”
