Sir Jim Ratcliffe has invested £79million in Manchester United, but none of that will go into Ruben Amorim's transfer fund.
When Ratcliffe shelled out a staggering £1.2bn for a 27.7 per cent stake in United, there was a deal that would see him inject another $300m (£237m) into the club.
Thanks to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the 72-year-old's final $100m (£79m) payout has been confirmed.
Ratcliffe also increased his stake in the club to 28.94 per cent, with ownership of those shares also transferring to Ineos.
Ratcliffe's latest cash injection is proof he is dedicated to turning around the club's fortunes.
However, talkSPORT understands Ratcliffe's funds will not go towards the January transfer budget.
Instead, it will aid infrastructure investment.
It is also understood that United's recent focus on cutting costs and increasing revenues, evidenced by divisive job cuts and rising ticket prices, is aimed at stabilizing the club's finances so that any fresh capital is not spent. only in operating losses.
Ratcliffe has overseen a handful of financial missteps since the summer.
Approved the controversial decision to extend Erik ten Hagof the contract despite the Dutchman leading the Red Devils to an eighth-place finish in the league last season.
Ratcliffe allowed Ten Hag to spend more than £200 million in the transfer market, only to fire the dutch just four months later, after a terrible start to the campaign.
As a result of Ten Hag's dismissal, Ratcliffe had to fork out £15 million in compensation.
Ratcliffe also worked hard to attract Daniel Ashworth to Old Trafford as United's new sporting director and even paid £10m in compensation to Newcastle to secure his services.
But Ashworth's time at United came to an abrupt end earlier this month when they mutually agreed to leave the club.
Unfortunately for Amorim, the consequence of multiple financial mistakes almost certainly means it will only have funds to spend in January through sales.
One of those sales could be made in the form of Mark Rashfordwho declared on Tuesday that he was “ready for a new challenge.”
talkSPORT understands United's will listen to offers for the 27-year-old as Amorim looks to make significant changes to his playing squad.
Rashford was even left out of the matchday squad for United's 2-1 win over Manchester City last Sunday and is expected to be absent from the squad again ahead of the Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham.
In response to Rashford's interview, Amorim reaffirmed that he would be happy to keep moving forward in the club.
“We are better with Marcus Rashford, that's simple, and we will try different things to bring Marcus to the best levels he showed in the past,” Amorim said.
“And that's it. Of course (I would love to keep him), because this type of club needs great talent and he is a great talent.
“So he just needs to perform at the highest level and that's my goal.
“I just want to help Marcus.”
