Managerless Southampton have a long-standing interest in former Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand, talkSPORT understands.

Reliable sources have confirmed that the south coast team had previously considered signing Hjulmand, who led Denmark to the Euro 2020 semi-finals.

Hjulmand's senior coaching career began in 2006 as head coach at Lyngby Boldklub after working in their youth team.
He then joined FC Nordsjælland as an assistant two years later, before succeeding Morten Wieghorst on the bench.
Nordsjælland won the Danish Superliga for the first time in its history with Hjulmand at the helm in the 2011/12 season.
The former defender left the club in 2014 to join Mainz, but returned just a year later for a second spell until 2019.
A year later, Hjulmand took charge of the Denmark national team and oversaw three major tournaments while in the role.
He could prove to be a smart appointment for a Southampton team that finds itself bottom of the Premier League table.
