Southampton interested in second transfer reunion with former striker after talks with Adam Lallana
Southampton are interested in signing former player Danny Ings, who could return to the club alongside Adam Lallana.
Saints achieved promotion to the Premier League on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Leeds United in the championship play-off final thanks to a goal from Adam Armstrong, who celebrated a little early.
And they are looking to move quickly in the transfer window after confirming their top flight has already confirmed a dealand are interested in signing Ings from West Ham.
The striker has only scored three goals in the Premier League in the last two seasons and has struggled to get game time at the London Stadium.
However, during his three years in Southampton From 2018 to 2021, Ings scored 41 goals in the top flight.
As well as western ham and Southampton, the Englishman has played in Burnley, Liverpool and Aston Villa.
The 31-year-old may not be the only Saints alumnus to make a grand return to the south coast.
talkSPORT reported on Monday that former captain Lallana is in talks to return to St Mary's as he prepares to leave Brighton this summer.
The former Liverpool star came through Southampton's academy and spent a total of 14 years at the club before signing for Liverpool in 2014.

Southampton were relegated last year with a predominantly young team and at the same time lacked goals, scoring just 36 goals, the second lowest score of the campaign that season.

The three aforementioned teams will play in the Premier League next season after Leicester and Ipswich finished first and second respectively in the second division.
