Southampton player Che Adams is set to move to the Premier League and the striker will depart on a free transfer this summer.
Wolves are confident of landing Southampton striker Che Adams, talkSPORT understands.
Scotland international Adams set to leave Saints on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer.
And Wolves boss Gary O'Neil is interested in taking him to Molineux to reinforce the attacking line of the Midlands team.
O'Neil recently stated that the Wolves don't have much money at their disposal this summer, and Adams is seen as an attractive option because he won't cost them anything come July 1.
In his pre-match press conference before his team's 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, he said: “I don't think there will be any money available for us if nobody leaves.”
O'Neil added: “I wouldn't expect it to be a summer where we spent millions of the club's own money on players.
“I think it won't be the same as last year, where we will have to sell a lot and make a big profit, but I wouldn't expect it to be an excessive expense.”
Adams, who arrived at Southampton in 2019 from Birmingham on a £15m earner, was on the verge of leaving St Mary's last year when Everton lodged a £12 million offer for the services of the 27-year-old.
But the south coast side refused the offer, wanting instead to keep the centre-forward in their bid to secure instant promotion back to the Premier League.
The former Blues goalscorer has impressed this campaign, contributing 18 goals in all competitions.
His 16 goals in the Championship have helped propel Saints to the play-offs, where he missed the semi-final first leg against West Brom due to injury.
And in a boost for Southampton, manager Russell Martin has confirmed he is hopeful the centre-forward will be available to face the Baggies in Friday night's second leg, live on talkSPORT.
He commented: “I think there was hope he was ready for this, but the risk outweighs the reward.
“It was quite soon after the game (at Leeds in the last game of the championship). He's been working. He's been doing everything he can.
“We'll take him to the training ground over the next few days and see how he reacts. It's important.”
If Southampton overcome the Baggies, a date at Wembley with either Leeds or Norwich awaits in the play-off final on Sunday 26 May.
