Noel Gallagher has explained that he did not join Poznan as a result of a 'spectacular' hangover.
The music legend made headlines after being spotted among Manchester City fans during their Premier League clash against Fulham at the weekend.
Gallagher joined the wild celebrations as City recorded a 4-0 victory on Marco Silva's team to maintain the fight for the title.
But while the The former Oasis star raised his fist in celebration. During the match, he drew the line about jumping with his fellow fans.
In a televised clip that has gone viral, thousands of Manchester City fans could be seen doing the Poznan, a celebration in which fans hug each other before jumping onto the pitch with their backs turned.
But Gallagher notably chose not to get involved in an image that will be remembered for years to come.
Some have questioned why Gallagher didn't participate in the celebration, but the singer-songwriter had a pretty good explanation.
Speaking on The Sports Breakfast about being on TV, Gallagher said: “You don't really know until you leave the ground and your phone explodes.
“I have to say, in my defence, that on Saturday I was still feeling the effects of a pretty spectacular night out.
“So even if I had wanted to join Poznan, I don't think I would have been able to!”
Gallagher was then asked if there was any risk in supporting a team as dominant as Manchester City, to which he said: “I think there will be a certain section of the fans who won't be nervous, but the people I go with are from a different time so we will always have nerves.
“We've supported the team for about 50 years, but the younger generation thinks we're going to make it and that's it.
“Then there is an older generation who are a bit pessimistic, but on Saturday they never seemed to be in any danger.
“I was at the game against Wolves and spoke to some players afterwards. They know what they are playing for and they are completely calm.
“You have never seen a group of people so relaxed in your life. They know what's in front of them and they know they'll never do it again if they do it. Nobody is going to win five in a row, so that's it.”
Gallagher will no doubt watch on Tuesday night as Manchester City take on Tottenham knowing they will leapfrog Arsenal in the title race with a win.
