As reported by Wolfsburger Allgemeine, former FC Köln coach Steffen Baumgart has been named as one of the potential successors should VfL Wolfsburg dismiss Niko Kovač.
According to the report, the former Bayern Munich man will be sacked this weekend should his side lose to Borussia Dortmund.
Wolves are yet to win a game this calendar year having drawn four and lost one match. The draws include many teams who have also struggled this year. The recent poor form has led the wolves down the table and into 12th place.
Possibly looking over their shoulders, the Wolfsburg board are concerned about being dragged into an unnecessary relegation battle.
Should they lose to BVB this weekend, the club already has a plan B in place. It’s believed that a successor could come from within the club or former FC Köln coach Steffen Baumgart.
The 52-year-old left the Billy Goats early this year, who themselves have been fighting relegation for the majority of the campaign.
