Al-Ettifaq manager Steven Gerrard has suffered a blow with a star informing the club that he wants to leave.

The player, who previously featured in the Premier League, is eager to depart the Saudi Arabian club in the January transfer window.

Gerrard has been in charge of Al-Ettifaq since July 2023, having previously had spells as manager of Rangers and Aston Villa.

Al-Etitfaq are currently in 11th place in the Saudi Pro League having endured a mixed season so far.

Gerrard’s team have won four of their league matches, while they have drawn three and lost six. 

They are set to return to action on January 10 with a home game against Al Kholood.

As reported by The Sun, Demarai Gray wants to leave Al-Ettifaq amid interest from Fulham.

Al-Ettifaq are open to selling Gray and want a fee of £5million for him. 

Crystal Palace and Besiktas have both previously been linked with a move for Gray. 

Gray signed for Al-Ettifaq in September 2023 after arriving from Everton. He has gone on to make 32 appearances in Saudi Arabia and has scored four goals, while he has provided five assists.

The winger has started the last three games for Al-Ettifaq but struggled with injury prior to that.

Jamaica international Gray was previously called up by England at senior level and played for the Three Lions at youth level.

Gray was part of Leicester’s remarkable Premier League triumph in the 2015-16 season and has also played for Birmingham and Bayer Leverkusen.
