Argentine forward Nicolás González left Stuttgart five years and after spending time at Fiorentina, joined Juventus on loan for €8m in the summer with a €28m obligation to buy. As a result, according to Bild, VfB are set to pocket €2m from the transfer.
González spent three seasons in Germany, scored 23 and creating 10 in 79 games across all competitions for Stuttgart. Unfortunately, he played a role in the club’s relegation in 2019, straying offside which resulted in Dennis Aogo’s free-kick being ruled out.
But five years after leaving Stuttgart, González is set to play against his former club. Juventus and VfB will face each other on October 22 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin after the two teams were drawn against each other in the new Champions League format.
Stuttgart return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2009/10 season after finishing runners-up to Bayer Leverkusen last season, ahead of Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund.
