Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has signed a new long-term contract, the Club has confirmed.

The 25-year-old's previous contract was due to expire in 2025, raising the possibility of a summer exit or free transfer next year.

However, the Japanese right back now followed his teammate Ben White agreeing new terms with the Gunners.

It is understood that Tomiyasu, who has made 55 Premier League appearances since joining Arsenal In 2021, his salary will double to £100,000 a week.

Tomiyasu said: “I am very happy to extend my contract because Arsenal is one of the best clubs in the world. And it is a dream to play for this club, so I am happy.”

The full-back has not played for Arsenal since December due to a combination of injury and Asian Cup duty.
