talkSPORT presenter reveals five-word text he received from Kevin Nolan about argument with Neal Maupay
Kevin Nolan has played down his role in his heated exchange with Neal Maupay during West Ham's 4-2 win over Brentford..
That's according to the talkSPORT presenter. Andy Goldsteinwho has revealed the five-word text message he received from the Hammers manager following the incident.
As the West Ham and Brentford players headed onto the pitch before the second half, Nolan and Maupay had to be separated after their verbal combat.
However, the incident did not turn physical. maupay was seen laughing in the direction of the 41-year-old before the east Londoners prevailed as 4-2 winners.
And Goldstein says he sent a text message to western ham assistant when speaking to Drive co-host Darren Bent about the match.
He said: “How about Kevin Nolan getting involved?
“I'll tell you what, we know Kev very well, I wouldn't go toe to toe with him. He looks like he could take care of himself easily.
“I sent him a text after the game saying, 'What's wrong with you?'
“'Nothing to do with me,' he said.”
Speaking on Sky Sports commentary, manchester united Legend Gary Neville gave his theory about what had caused the couple to fall out.
Neville commented: “In the tunnel, on the break, Nolan is trying to attack him.
“We believe the Brentford striker was outside the referee's room and Nolan took offense to it.
“It doesn't seem like he's calmed down either.”
Maupay, who scored at the London Stadium on Monday, has become accustomed in recent weeks to finishing off his rival.
He trolled James Maddison with his iconic darts celebration after breaking the tie against Tottenham last month.
And then he clashed with Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker in the Bees' next outing after being accused of make fun of the defender's private life – something Maupay denies.
