Sir Alex Ferguson should make a sensational return to Manchester United for the FA Cup finalurged talkSPORT presenter Andy Goldstein.
United suffered a miserable 4-0 win In the hands of crystal Palace Monday night with Erik ten Hag apparently holding on to his job.
However, talkSPORT understands that no decision will be made on the Dutchman's future until after the FA Cup final, in which United will face Manchester City, on May 25.
But that would be a misstep, according to talkSPORT's Goldstein, who told co-host Darren Bent in Drive that the club urgently need reinforcement to have any chance of beating their nearest neighbors at Wembley.
And he suggested a radical move to bring back the greatest manager of all time, Ferguson, now 82, for a single match to take the team to the FA Cup final.
Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Goldstein, a lifelong United fan, said: “I know people are going to say this is crazy, but it's not crazy.
“manchester united for the FA Cup final against city of manchester should have in that dressing room to give the speech – Mr Alex Ferguson.
“That gives Manchester United the best chance of beating Man City.”
Bent couldn't believe his ears and replied: “You're bringing in someone who hasn't coached for ten years, for one game, possibly your biggest game. Why would you bring Fergie back for that?”
Goldstein insisted: “He has something that no one else has. Just walking into a room, he has it. Even now.”
“Imagine you are Marcus Rashford sitting there as a player, I don't know where he is mentally or physically. Does he want to play on the left? I don't know.
“But what I do know is that, as a player born and raised at Manchester United, I know exactly how important Sir Alex Ferguson, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo are too.
“If you bring Sir Alex Ferguson into the Wembley dressing room against Manchester City and Fergie gives that speech (applause), United have every chance.”
A blunt Bent said: “That's crazy.”
Ferguson won 13 Premier League titles and five FA Cups, the last in 2004 despite retiring in 2013.
While the chances of Fergie taking charge of an FA Cup final game are highly unlikely at best, Goldstein is not the only talkSPORT presenter who believes change is needed.
Jamie O'Hara said Jason Cundy that Jose Mourinho It should be brought back for the match against City at The Sports Bar.
The former Tottenham and Wolves midfielder said: “Give it to Mourinho for a couple of weeks. Why not?
“A chance to win a trophy… they're not going to win it with Ten Hag, forget about it. They're done.”
