Tamworth fans celebrate 'amazing' FA Cup third round draw as coach Andy Peaks gives priceless reaction
As expected, Tamworth fans were delighted when their club faced Tottenham in the FA Cup.
The National League team, which is the lowest ranked team left in the competition, will be the host the Premier League giants next month.
First and second round victories over Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion respectively have rewarded them with an outstanding draw.
Tamworth could generate a huge amount of revenue if the match at The Lamb Ground is selected for television broadcast.
While the club was waiting for a dream FA Cup giveaway, which became a reality, they decided to set up a camera and film the live reaction of their fans.
When Mark Hughes read out his 53rd ball there was huge applause as he realized Tamworth would be home.
Anticipation built as they waited for the name of their visitors, and Dion Dublin later revealed that it will be Spurs.
Tamworth fans' celebrations increased once it was confirmed that they will indeed host the Premier League rivals.
Fans of all ages jumped, cheered and clapped before many began chanting: “Tottenham gets a beating, wherever it goes!”
Monday night's draw took place at Old Trafford, the home of reigning FA Cup champions Manchester United.
Tamworth boss Andy Peaks, who spoke to talkSPORT beforehandwas present and offered a fun reaction to seeing who his team will face.
Peaks smiled with satisfaction when the Lambs were chosen first, although he could only help but laugh and grimace when the Spurs were the next team to be read aloud.
Following the draw, talkSPORT spoke to Tamworth assistant manager Neil Champelovier to get his reaction to their monumental tie.
“Absolutely incredible,” Champelovier, who works as a physical education teacher, told Kick Off.
“I was literally on social media right before you called us, and the scenes in the clubhouse, they're small, but the scenes there were absolutely incredible.
“To get a home draw against one of the big six, we said we wanted one of the big six, whether it be a day away to get the experience or to bring them back to The Lamb for the fans and for the city itself.
“That's what we wanted and that's what they've given us, you couldn't have asked for much from a bigger game.”
Champelovier was then asked what Spurs players, who are used to a state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, can expect to see at Tamworth's home stadium, The Lamb Ground.
“Well, first of all, a portable cabin was expected as a changing room, without heating either.
“Artificial pitch, a little bit inclined, so the sort of thing we try to use to our advantage sometimes, especially in the league when the big teams come to The Lamb.
“It's not a particularly nice place for away fans, so yeah, it's not going to be a nice place.”
Tamworth will play Spurs between January 9 and 13 and hope to pull off one of the biggest upsets in FA Cup history.
