Aston Villa will assess Amadou Onana ahead of Sunday’s trip to Chelsea but Jacob Ramsey remains sidelined.
Onana has missed the last two matches against Crystal Palace and Juventus having sustained injury while on international duty with Belgium.
He now faces a late fitness test prior to this weekend’s Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge.
Fellow midfielder Ramsey, who was forced off at Liverpool earlier this month, continues to miss out.
Fit-again Boubacar Kamara returned to Villa’s starting XI for Wednesday’s goalless draw in the UEFA Champions League, while Ezri Konsa was also named in the matchday squad.
Speaking at Friday afternoon’s media conference, manager Unai Emery said: “The last match we were without Onana and Ramsey.
“Ramsey is going to be out as well (on Sunday).
“But Onana, it depends how he is progressing and tomorrow if he can train or not, we’ll see.”
