- Aston Villa Vs. Leicester City – Sat, Jan 4th 2025, 15:00
Aston Villa have suffered a setback with the news Pau Torres has been ruled out for around two months with a broken metatarsal.
The Spain international centre-back hobbled off in the first half of Monday’s 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.
And Torres will now be sidelined for the immediate future as Villa look to start the new year on a high against Leicester City on Saturday.
Diego Carlos and Jaden Philogene have also been ruled out against the Foxes due to injury, while Morgan Rogers serves a one-match suspension having received five yellow cards and Jhon Durán serves the second game of his three-match ban.
However, Villa are boosted by the return of right-back Matty Cash having missed out against the Seagulls earlier this week due to a suspension of his own.
Manager Unai Emery provided a team news update at Friday afternoon’s pre-match media conference ahead of facing Leicester at Villa Park.
“Not (available is) Jhon Durán because he is suspended, not Pau Torres because he broke his fourth metatarsal and he is going to be out for, more or less, two months,” said the Spaniard.
“Not for tomorrow Diego Carlos because he has small injury as well, he’s not feeling good with one kick he has in his foot.
“Not Morgan Rogers because he is suspended with five yellow cards.
“Other players are in the squad and available for tomorrow.”
