Real Betis risked the wrath of Manuel Pellegrini last season when they sold their best defender at the time Luiz Felipe after the transfer date, forcing them to bring in veteran free agent Sokratis Papastothopoulos. Now the Brazilian could once again be an option for Los Verdiblancos.
According to Matteo Moretto, Felipe and Saudi Arabia Al-Ittihad have already negotiated a mutual termination of their contract, just 13 months after signing for them for 22 million euros. A resolution is expected in the coming days.

Felipe has only played 28 times for Al-Ittihad, but has been nursing muscle problems for most of his time there, and this season he was left unregistered after just 20 minutes of action. He has already been linked with a return to his former club Betisalthough naturally he would have to return to a much more modest salary. If he were to return on a free, it would certainly be a smart move from Betis.
The 27-year-old, who has been capped by Italy, may also want to test the free agency market and find a more lucrative offer. Betis have since signed Natan and Diego Llorente at the back, but with Marc Bartra, they still only have three central defenders on their books. Whether it's for Betis or someone else, it's a market opportunity for someone.
