In the next few days, it will be known where Nico Williams will play his football next season. The 22-year-old has decided whether to join Barcelona or stay at Athletic Club, while Paris Saint-Germain are also pushing to sign him as Kylian Mbappe's successor.

The matter could go either way. Barcelona are said to be confident of securing his services, but given the situation Williams finds himself in up front, it would not be a surprise to see him stay at Bilbao for at least another 12 months.
Athletic is Williams' boyhood club, and he plays with brother Inaki at San Mames. It's this relationship that could mean Barcelona miss out on a deal this summer – that's why Sport say that Nico promised his older brother that they would play together in Europe for at least one season.
If this promise is fulfilled, the younger Williams brother will stay Athletic Club – who, in turn, would seek to propose a new contract, thus raising the price of his release clause, which currently stands at 58 million euros. Barcelona they will be desperately hoping they are the ones to receive a positive response from the Euro 2024 winner.
