Former French international Samir Nasri he refused by Antoine Griezmann place as an all-time great Les Bleus.
Griezmann played a key role for France for almost a decade with 44 goals scored in 127 international matches.
This tally puts him fourth in the list of appearances and goalscorers for his country alongside a FIFA World Cup title win in 2018.
Despite his enduring importance to France as they prepare for Euro 2024, Nasri does not believe he deserves to be considered on a par with France's former stars.
“He is not in the “Top 5”. But, he is in the “Top 10″. In my opinion, Zidane, Platini, Henry are ahead of him”, according to an interview with Canal+, via Brand.
“There are others that I could put on the list. Raymond Kopa, although I have not seen him play.
“Winning a Ballon d'Or or Champions League is above all and Griezmann did not do that.”
Nasri's comments are unlikely to divide France fans in their view of the veteran striker who has continued to evolve and play in multiple positions for the national team in recent years.
His place in France's starting eleven is safe for Euro 2024 and he has not indicated any plans to opt for international retirement when the tournament ends in July.
France continue their preparations for Euro 2024 with Griezmann named for March friendlies against Germany and Chile.
