The former Cameroon, Inter and Real Madrid striker Samuel Eto'o he was one of the finest of his generation, and was responsible in no small part for Barcelona's second glorious era in the modern game under Frank Rijkaard and then Pep Guardiola. Eto'o was signed by RCD Mallorca for €27 million in 2004, and spent five highly successful years at the club, winning three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues with the Blaugrana. According to Alfonso Arus on La Sexta (via Marco), Eto'o spent all his spell in the Catalan capital at the Hotel Arts in the neighborhood of Vila Olimpic.

Despite the five-star hotel being just meters from some of the city's most popular nightlife destinations on the beach, Eto'o has lived a mostly quiet life according to Arus.

“He didn't come out late, he lived here and paid €2.6 thousand,” said Arus, claiming that it was just him and his entourage.

If he had actually stayed at the hotel for the entirety of his five years, then he would have spent 4.75 million euros in total. Eto'o is currently the president of the Cameroon FA but is serving a suspension from FIFA for alleged match-fixing.
