The main issue between Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel all comes down to the coach’s contract situation, according to Bild.
As reported by GGFN a few days ago, Tuchel is now the favourite to be the Bayern manager heading into the 2024/25 season.
Quite frankly, it’s been a disaster from start to finish for Bayern bosses. After announcing Tuchel will this summer, they’ve failed to nail down a new head coach. The list includes, but is not limited to, Xabi Alonso, Oliver Glasner, Ralf Rangnick, Hansi Flick, Roberto De Zerbi, and Julen Lopetegui.
Tuchel is backed by several senior players, such as Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer, and Harry Kane, who wish for the coach to stay on. Additionally, fans have been signing petitions to get him to stay beyond this campaign.
Now, it looks more likely that he will stay, the club’s bosses and Tuchel are currently negotiating contract terms.
Bayern want Tuchel to run down his contract, which expires in the summer of 2025. However, Tuchel wants more backing and simply asks for an extension.
Bayern’s reasoning is that the club has incurred extremely high expenses in the form of severance payments to coaches over the last couple of years (Julian Nagelsmann, the obvious one). That’s why they now want to avoid such expenses as much as possible in the future.
A final decision is expected this weekend.
