The former MManchester United star Bryan Robson has opened up about the club's failed attempt to sign him Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham continued his growth as a world-class star, after a 2023 change Real Madridas Los Blancos finally succeeded where United failed.
The England international was linked with a move to United, before joining Borussia Dortmund in 2020, but has opted to make the jump to Germany.
Despite leading the race, United were unable to convince Bellingham, with Dortmund offering a better package.
Robson and a host of other United legends were part of a group in attendance on the day Bellingham was shown around his training base in Manchester.
However, despite United's best efforts, Bellingham rejected a possible deal at Old Trafford, and Robson admits mistakes were made in the project.
“It was really disappointing. We were in Carrington, and Sir Alex Ferguson was there a little before me. Eric Cantona and I met with him, his mother and father, and we talked,” he said in an interview with Telegraph Sports.
“It looked promising that he had signed for Manchester United… but me and Eric did a rubbish job while he was signing for Borussia Dortmund! We thought we had it in the bag.”
United were rumored to be interested in Bellingham again before his move to Madrid, but there was no change of heart, and the 20-year-old has enjoyed a sensational start with Los Blancos.
