Manchester United's latest transfer target sparked a scandal after a rude gesture aimed at Lionel Messi and Rodrigo de Paul.

The Uruguay international is renowned for his tenacity and ability to get inside and is not afraid to be a nuisance against the big names.

ChelseaEnzo Fernandez jumped in to calm the situation and De Paul shouted at the midfielder in response.

Messi was also not happy with the situation and attacked Ugarte in his post-match press conference.

The Inter Miami superstar said: “It's normal. These types of matches, qualifiers, against Uruguay, it's always like that.

“I prefer not to say what I think. Young people have to learn to respect their elders.

“This classic was always intense, tough, but always with a lot of respect. They have to learn a little.”

United already had an offer rejected by PSG for Ugarte this summer. talkSPORT understands.

However, the move is not yet finalized and the Red Devils could make a second offer.

The 23-year-old has made 37 appearances for PSG, where he has won the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions.

He only signed for the French giants last season from Sporting after beating Chelsea to the signing.
