Real Madrid have agreed a new contract with Jesus Fortea, the 16-year-old who is currently seen as one of the top prospects in Factory after he was fired from Atletico in 2022.
Currently starring in the Juvenil A team managed by Alvaro Arbeloa, the youngster is being called Dani Carvajal's successor by some at the club.
Fortea is now tied to a new deal until 2026 – the maximum length of the deal allowed under Spanish law for a minor.
It develops just in time – Carvajal is still putting in great performances, but he is clearly in decline. Lucas Vazquez makes his art, but he is also 32 years old.
If those two can last another couple of years and Fortea develops quickly, he could also be fast-tracked into first-team minutes. The plan is to send him to Castile next season, allowing him to gain experience at senior level, before making the step up to the first team.
