Callum Wilson is set for another long injury layoff that could decide his future at Newcastle.
The 32-year-old striker has suffered a new setback just weeks after returning from a back injury.
Wilson's 129-day absence due to the issue extended his time out due to injury since the start of last season to 287 days.
