'The perfect attacker': Trent Alexander-Arnold compares the Liverpool legend to Cristiano Ronaldo

Trent Alexander-Arnold was left in awe of a Liverpool legend who he called the player closest to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Alexander-Arnold has played with some of the best in the world in Liverpoolincluding Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Virgil van Dijk but only one has been compared to ronaldo.

while talking to manchester united legend Gary Neville on Sky Bet The Overlay PodcastThe Reds defender revealed what it was like to face Sadio Mane in training, comparing it with the five times Golden Ball winner.

Alexander-Arnold said: “He's the only player I've ever thought I was grateful to never have had to play against.

“He was a perfect attacker, he had everything as an athlete.

“Probably, in the end, I would say similar to Ronaldo. He had the jump, he could get up, he was quick, he could finish.

“He probably wasn't the same finisher (as Ronaldo), but he could finish with both feet, he was a threat at all times.”

Neville nodded his head, like someone who knows everything about Ronaldo after having played with him for six years at United.

During that period, the Portuguese superstar won the Champions League and the Ballon d'Or in 2008, as well as three Premier League titles, two League Cups and one FA Cup.

He scored 118 goals in 292 games, including 31 goals in 34 Premier League games in 2007/08.

Mane had six brilliant years at Liverpool, scoring 120 goals in 269 appearances and winning the Champions League, Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

The Senegalese international formed possibly the deadliest attack in Europe along with Salah and Roberto Firminostriking fear into most defenses.

The striker is considered a club legend by many Liverpool fans, helping to take the Reds to a new level after joining in 2016 from Southampton and as the cornerstone of Jurgen KloppIt is attacking football.

Coincidentally, Mané and Ronaldo are now teammates at Al Nassr and partner up front.

Mane has scored 15 goals and nine assists this season for the Saudi Pro League side in all competitions, while Ronaldo has 36 goals and 12 assists.
