The presidency of the Spanish Football Federation in the air after the interim president refused the appeal
While on the pitch Spain continue to look as good as they have since their golden era, off it, things continue to get more and more foggy. Former Acting President Peter Rochawho tried to run for the permanent role, had an appeal against a suspension denied.
Rocha, who succeeded Luis Rubiales in 2023, had appealed for a suspension for exceeding his responsibilities which prevents him from running in this year's December elections. Rocha appealed twice and lost, but could still appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Spain's national courts.
However, the General Assembly in the Real Spanish Football Federation will be more or less defined on Monday, say Reliefthat is to say that Rocha is in time to see the movement on the problem. At that point, he will have to present 21 signatures of the delegates to run for president, something less likely if he is not assured of being able to run for election.
More and more it seems that Rocha will not be in charge of the RFEF in 2025. Since the summer, there has been an interim committee in charge of the Federation, and they have not had a permanent leader since Rubiales lost his job. The elections will be held on December 16.
