Real Madrid are expected to finalize a deal to sign Alphonso Davies when he becomes a free agent next summer, and when that happens, it is certain that Ferland Mendy or Fran Garcia will leave. As things stand, it is the latter who is most likely to leave, although he aims to improve his chances of staying at the Santiago Bernabeu for the 2025-26 season and beyond.
He hasn't taken his chances unscathed in recent weeks, especially amid Mendy's drastic drop in form since last season. Ace for ReliefCarlo Ancelotti and his coaching staff have been impressed by Garcia's efforts in training, and believe he has improved significantly since the 2023-24 campaign, which was his first time at the club.
In terms of team planning, keeping Garcia or Mendy would make more sense given that he is much younger. His level isn't too far off – he might even be better now, considering Real Madrid season so far.
