This season seemed to be a turning point for Joan Martinez. The 17-year-old impressed during the pre-season tour of the United States, and the idea was for him to remain in Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the 2024-25 campaign due to the shortage of central defenders at the disposition of the Italian. That was, until disaster struck.
During a training session just before the start of the season, Martinez tore his anterior cruciate ligament. It was a horrific moment for the youngster, who is now expected to miss most of this season.
Martinez himself confirmed (via Marco) who has now undergone successful surgery to correct the injury, meaning he can now begin his long road to recovery.
