With Toni Kroos and Luka Modric both coming towards the end of their respective careers, Real Madrid could be considering possible successors for the future. Although he looks more likely to stay for another 12 months, Los Blancos appear to be starting to consider their long-term options.
According to a report from DirectvSports (via Caught Offside), Real Madrid will keep an eye on it Liverpool and Argentine star Alexis Mac Allister, who has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season.
It is likely that if Los Blancos are considering Mac Allister then it will be the successor to Kroos or Modric, meaning they will not pursue a deal this summer if both players sign contract extensions in the coming weeks.
At 25, Mac Allister still has his best years ahead of him, and could be a shrewd addition to the Real Madrid team However, it would be a surprise if other options weren't higher up the list, considering the expected asking price Liverpool would ask.
